Trick #5 and #6

So starting today, you will now have a week to train tricks as we're doing a couple each week. Trick videos must be in by Saturday Feb. 20th by 11:00pm EST.

Trick #5 - Shake Paws With Both Hands
Whether your dog just paws at you, and gives you their paw it doesn't matter. Try to put a command for each paw!

Trick #6 - Roll over
Dogs must be able to roll completely to their other side.

These don't have to be perfect, but once they're *taught* keep practicing as we'll be building on these later *hinthint*.

  1. Pit doing paw and other paw. He doesn't know roll over yet, so we'll see if I can get him there by the deadline!
    Paw, other paw

He knew this trick prior to the challenge.

  3. This should be interesting! Tempie didn't know either of these! I taught her to give both paws today, but roll over is going to take a bit longer. Hope we can make it in time!

  4. Oooo, roll over we can try. I'm going to skip the shake paws thing because of the waving issue we're having with our fronts in rally.

And yes, I fail, I still haven't recorded the other ones. Some day ;)

  5. Izzy knew paws, but not a full roll over! But, we got it down in a couple short sessions yesterday. Now I need to get video!

  6. It's not looking good; we'll never make it! I can't get past the laying on the side bit. I remember now why I haven't taught this to Pit yet. At the very least I'll submit a fail video :p

  7. How are you doing it? I had to use luring instead of shaping to teach it to Tempie. I brought the treat past her head, down to her shoulder, and kept her head turning until she tipped onto her side. Then I just kept the treat moving so momentum kind of carried her over. Still working on the finishing touches, but I hope to have a video up in time!

She knew shake (right paw), but getting her to offer the other paw was new (and surprisingly difficult? lol)

Didn't know this one either. I tried teaching it to her a while ago but my failed attempt ended up turning into the Bang trick. =P

  10. I've been doing shaping the whole week not getting too far and luring is just too chaotic with Pit, ha ha. I'll get a video of us trying both methods regardless if I can train it or not.

  12. No success! But here's a progress video. We will work at it some more and hopefully get it soon. Read the video description if you're wondering what I'm clicking him for.

  14. I'm new here and am trying to catch up. Jess & Tempie made me and my dog jealous, so here we are doing 'roll over'. She is a little camera shy, but over the next few days I should have the rest of the back trick videos uploaded! :)

Oh, and now that she has learned it we are going through the obligatory everything means 'roll over' phase. Here is a blooper:
